Jacks Speak: Nelsons Blood

Rum. This label stems from the incorrect belief tat Lord Nelson’s body, which had been placed in the cask after Trafalgar, was preserved in rum. In fact it was a mixture of brandy and the cruder spirit of wine.

Ironically, this cask was brought home to England in HMS Pickle.
