The Woman in Defence Awards 2018

The Royal Navy’s nominees have been recognised in categories celebrating inspiration, outstanding contribution, innovation, unsung heroine and promoting gender balance.

The Second Sea Lord, Vice Admiral Tony Radkin said: “I am extremely proud of our five shortlisted nominees. To be nominated in so many categories highlights the hard work, dedication and talent we have amongst our female personnel. ”

Angela Owen, Founder of Women in Defence UK said: “Our shortlists are always ‘special’.  I hoped we would have an extra special shortlist during this year of the centenary of suffrage – and we have. 52 women and 8 teams have been selected from over 300 awe-inspiring nominations from across the defence enterprise.  They represent the very best of the women, men and teams who work in defence of the nation.”

A special event will be held in London on 26 September for shortlisted nominees with the finalists announced on 3 October. The Secretary of State for Defence, The Rt Hon Gavin Williamson, will be the senior guest at the Awards Dinner on 6 November.
