A UK Navy officer has reportedly fled to Syria to join ISIS.
The 28 year old, originally from Kuwait, would have extensive knowledge of the nations shipping fleet and a high level of skills, leading to a worrying security threat.
ISIS have previously targeted passenger planes so it is thought they may have ships and ferries in their sights, with now insider knowledge.
The former officer lived in South Shields and completed a three year Merchant Navy Officer course five years ago, he also has history of working in the oil industry back in Kuwait.
It is thought that the young man became radicalised after watching videos of ISIS in Syria.
